Condición: Good. 1937. No Edition Remarks. Unpaginated. Decorative dust jacket over identical paper covered boards. Black and white and colour illustrations throughout. Moderate tanning to pages. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with visible tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has minor tanning with moderate splitting and crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped dust jacket with heavy rubbing, chipping and tearing to edges. Moderate tanning, water staining and scuffing inside and out. Front panel extremely loose. Visible loss overall. .

Hard Cover. 1st Ed. 29 x 22 cm., 48, [96] pp. The introductory text deals with the manuscripts in sections: Apocalypse; Bestiary; Psalter (first half century); Second half century. It then treats References to secular life; The illuminator and how he worked; The Patrons; Pigments and mediums; Conclusion. The final 96 pages hold 24 tipped in colour plates, with titles and descriptions. The boards are covered in cream paper with red and blue lettering within illuminated border. CONDITION. VG/VG. The text pages and plates and clean and tight. There is some foxing on the fore edge, front end pages and title page. Slight rubbing at the ends of the spine. The dust jacket shows some light foxing, and is lightly rubbed at the corners and end of the spine. Small bookplate on free end paper.

Cream paper-covered boards with strong italic red green and blue lettering within an illuminated border to the front cover, and Italic titling to the spine - the spine titling is very faded. Slight rubbing/bumping to the ends of the spine and corners, but overall very clean and sound with no major marks and ALL hinges Tight. A circular library label has been removed from the spine leaving a light plain circle, traces of a small label (c. 5 cm long) removed from both the front free and rear free endpapers, and one Reference Library book plate, with a 'discarded' stamp on it, on the front pastedown ONLY - NO other library marks that I can see anywhere in the book. Top edge Gilt. Light 'toning' to the page fore edges. Internally VERY GOOD/FINE. Plain endpapers, and NO inscriptions or marks, other than those mentioned. The text block and tipped in plates are VERY Clean and Tight. 48 pages of Text + 24 full page, full colour, tipped in plates each with a title page and a page of text describing the plate. The introductory text deals with the manuscripts in sections as follows : - Apocalypse; Bestiary; Psalter (First Half Century) ; Second Half Century. References to Secular Life; The Illuminator and how he worked; The Patrons; Pigments and Mediums; Conclusion.
