Lectures delivered by eight eminent academics, including the OSU alumni and Nobel Prize-winner Linus Pauling, addressing topics under the dual rubric of The Role of Universities and Man and His Environment. The lectures were geared towards providing critical assessments of higher education and a broad look ahead, with considerations of contemporary scientific, technological, political, sociological, and educational developments. One-page resumes and portraits are provided for each of the lecturers. The lectures were delivered as part of Oregon State University's year-long centennial commemoration during the school year, 1968-1969.
