Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Tales from the Aborigines come from the camp-fires of a race of people who have told and re-told the stories as an oral tradition from the beginning of time. Yet it is remarkable how frequently the incidents and heroes have their counterparts in other lands. Written down in an environment of aboriginal camp-life, by a man who has lived continually among them for fifty years, the tales reveal the mentality of a people - the Australoids - who still retain their age-old religion and culture." --- Presentation copy, inscribed, dated and signed by Author on Title Page. --- Original blue papered boards, lettered gilt on spine (22.1 cm height). Illustrated dustwrapper, price-clipped, few marks on spine ends and covers reinforced. Pp. xv - (xvi) - 189 including Acknowledgments, Author's Note, List of Illustrations (22), Introduction, Part One: Tales of Fantasy, Part Two: Tales of Imagination, Part Three: Tales of Caution and Observation, Part Four: Tales of Contact, Some Sayings of Aboriginal Philosophy, Epilogue: The Symbols of Uluru, Verse (10).
