Several, North Pacific Coast Railroad and South Pacific Coast Railroad, operated in coastal California Redwood regions and two, Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad and Lake Tahoe Railway & Navigation Co., operated in the Sierra, both in Nevada County.
