Hardcover. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. Contemporary calf with ornate cover borders. Tall octavo. Spine perished. Illustrated. Melville bookplate at front. Inscribed by the author to the Earl of Westmorland and with Westmorland's signature at the top of the title page. A history of this village and civil parish in Northamptonshire, England by the churchman and author, Henry Kaye Bonney (1780-1862). Bonney was born at Tansor, Northamptonshire and attended Emmanuel College and Christ's College. He was ordained deacon in 1803 and priest in 1804. After serving in various parishes he was presented by the Earl of Westmorland, a family friend, to the rectory of King's Cliffe in succession to his father. In 1820 he was appointed examining chaplain to George Pelham, the new bishop of Lincoln, and in 1821 became the archdeacon of Bedford. He was the author of a biography of Jeremy Taylor and various other works. This book is illustrated with 9 engraved plates showing the castle, interior views of the church, various crests and shields from the college, etc. A good copy only with half of the spine missing and with some heavy scuffing and wear to the covers. The text is good with some heavy foxing to some of the pages and plates. An excellent association copy of this work. Inscribed by Author(s).
