    xvi, 455, [1] p. Additional engraved titlepage. Contemporary calf, neatly rebacked. Spine with gold lines and a contrasting label. Old damp stain to the engraved title page, otherwise a clean, tight copy. Originally published as a periodical in forty issues by George Canning and others whilst pupils at Eton. This is the scarcer of two reissues in book form to appear in 1787 (ESTC N 34900), the issue with a Contents list bound before No. 1. ESTC notes 2 copies in UK (Oxford St. Johns and Armitt Library) and 6 copies in USA. PROVENANCE: 1) Armorial bookplate of John Frederick Doveton born 4 July 1774 at Chudleigh, Devon. He matriculated from Oriel Coll in 1803 and proceeded BCL from Exeter College in 1894. He became Rector of Burnett, Somerset in 1815 and of Mells in 1835. He married Elizabeth Crossman of Allington, Dorset in 1803. 2) Signature of G. Crossman on the title page. 3) Signature of Karsfield, 1859 on the front pastedown.
