Letters from Rembrandt to Constantijn Huygens, secretary to Prince Frederick Henry, for whom Rembrandt painted 7 paintings, commonly known as The Passion Series. This copy of the book is inscribed, "Rembrandt to his great restorer William Suhr [The Hague 1 Oct 1962]" William Suhr, renowned art historian and conservator, was particularly noted for his work on Rembrandt paintings. Suhr "was said to have held more Rembrandts in his hands than anyone since Rembrandt." - from the William Suhr papers, Getty Research Institute. Text mostly in English but with some parts in Dutch. Fine internally; light scuffing to covers. Inscribed to William Suhr in 1962, at The Hague, no signature but presumably by Gerson (who lived in the Hague and knew Suhr).
