Minor to moderate soiling, mostly to the rear panel. Several small chips and tears along the extremities. The upper spine of the jacket torn away and missing, affecting the upper ½ inch. Scuffing present to the jacket, mostly minor, but a bit heavier along the hinges. Minor fading, soiling and edgewear to the book, with the foot of the spine bumped. Interior clean and solid with a hint of darkening.

Lovable, oppressed by a desire for better surroundings, his life seems to come finally to blossom in the first of his son, Bicky. Thenceforth his whole life is reshaped by his desire to life Bicky up into the beauty of a better life." However, "the whole pull of the Street itself conspire to take Bicky from his father." Manning-Sanders (previously just George Sanders; when he married poet/author Ruth Manning in 1911, they both adopted the hyphenated form) was a minor British artist who for a few years also became a minor British novelist, publishing four novels between 1929 and 1932, of which the present book was the first. He will no doubt remain forever in the shadow of his more prolific wife, who wrote something like ninety books, mostly for children, over a span of seventy years! NOISBN.
