Boards are slightly bowed and bleaching overall. Heavy tanning overall.

Adye was in the Royal Artillery, and served in the Crimea, the Mutiny, the North-West Frontier, Bhutan and Egypt, becoming Governor of Gibraltar. An ex-University of London library copy, with bookplate to front pastedown and ink stamp to verso of titlepage. Some light wear to spine and some staining to front cover. One corner knocked. Front hinge a little loose and f.f.e.p. nearly detached. The Crimean section with extensive ink underlining and highlighting. Still a fair and sound copy. pp. x, 382.
