Paper. Condición: Near Fine. B/W Drawings Ilustrador. Later. SUBTITLED : ` How Children Talk, Write, Dance, Draw, and Sing Their Understanding of the World '. The author calls herself a teacher-researcher. As well she thinks of herself as a collector of young student ephemera : notes, doodles, exercises, drawings, junk sculptures, tapes of playground conversations, etc . She discusses (e.g.) - `Pigs ae Science', ` Making Thinking Visible' and `"Bad" Boys in the Classroom' - but my favourite sequence was her relinquishing of the CHAIR during `sharing time' - otherwise known as `show-and-tell'. By becoming a member of the `audience' she was ablle to reassess her teaching/schooling/learning paradigms. 171 pages incl. INDEX and short bio of author. TEXT is complemented by b/w photos from the clasroom and b/w drawings of the childrens' explorations. Cond : Paper wrapper is sky blue with green lettering. Cover graphic is a Sean and Jeffrey mural dealing with the science of insects. EDGES and corners are sharp, spine fine, colours bright, binding tight. No names, marks, tears, folds, creases, nor stains. Clean and giftable !! Quote (p. 39) : " . began to take great delight in raising her hand and trying to say something even when she did not have a clue as to what we were talking about. She seemed to relish the mannerisms and rituals of school and the audience that the children in the classroom provided. Although we could not seem to communicate about her . ." Size: 8vo.
