Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition, First Printing. 5 3/4 X 8 5/8 Inches. 156 PP. Stated "First Edition" on the copyright page. Original price of $3.00 intact on front flap. A graduate of both Montgomery Bell Academy and Vanderbilt, Morris Frank is the man largely responsible for the use of dogs as guides to the blind citizens of the United States. After losing his eyesight in two rather unlikely incidents, Frank originally hired young men as guides but found them unreliable. At the age of 19, Frank traveled to Switzerald after hearing an article in the Saturday Evening Post by Dorothy Harrison Eustis. Eustis wrote of the success of pairing dogs with blind WWI soldiers. Upon his return to America with "Buddy", Frank opened The Seeing Eye, the first guide-dog school in the United States. Light wear to dj edges and folds. A very attractive copy of this important book.
