Amongst the lengthy adverts at the rear is a list of titles in the Scott Library series and it is generally accepted that in the true first impression this list ends at number 89. In this copy the list continues to number 100. The binding is clean and bright but the ends of the spine are rubbed. Internally very good. There is a name on the front paste-down.

Internally very good except for a couple of turned page corners and 2 leaves which have damage to the outer edge. In the past someone has stuck a gold address label onto the title page!.

Olive green cloth; gold lettering and decoration; top edge gilt, others uncut. i-xxxiii; 1-244pp 24pp adverts with the Scott Library list ending at no.89. Generally very good throughout but the spine is scuffed in places and rubbed at the ends. The rear endpapers have some notes on Bacon made by a previous owner and the front fly-leaf bears the signatures of two former owners. On the front paste-down is the bookplate of G Sidney Paternoster who was himself the author of several novels. Rare.
