First edition. First Edition. Blue Cloth, 143pp. Illustrated with many old photographs and one color plate by Charles M. Russell. preface, introduction, cast of characters, appendices, notes, illustrated, bibliography, index. "A well-written history, and up to the time of it's publication the most nearly complete work on this notorious Arizona Indian outlaw."--Six Guns 748. An excellent account. A trusted Indian scout for Al Sieber and Gen. Crook during the 1880's, The Apache Kid murdered another Indian in 1887. In attempting to surrender an excited melee occurred and Al Sieber was shot in the foot. The Apache Kid fled but returned and surrendered. He and 3 other Apaches were charged and convicted of attempted murder in the incident. While transporting The Apache Kid and four other prisoners, the guards were overpowered. With 2 guards dead and the other severely wounded, The Apache Kid fled. Although suspected of other murders, the remainder of The Apache Kid's life remains a mystery. A fine, bright copy in dust jacket with some slight wear to corners and spine ends, and some very slight wear along top edge of rear panel. Signed presentation from Forrest to the Deputy Sheriff of the Los Angeles Corral of Westerners, on front free-endpaper.
