Blue Cloth Hardback. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. First Edition. 1943. First edition. 151pp., frontispiece, a 1 page advertisement and 2 page catalogue. John Duncan Fergusson (1874-1961) was a Scottish artist and sculptor, regarded as one of the major artists of the Scottish Colourists school of painting. This book is an attempt to state in the ordinary language of informal discussion the impressions, ideas and opinions of a painter who has devoted his lifetiome in trying to understand painting and sculpture, not as a craft, but as a means of expressing human reactions to life. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine and a gold design on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with light bumping to the spine ends and a small dent on the bottom edge of the rear board. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing to the endpapers and a piece missing from the bottom corner of page 63 (the text is not affected). A name has been written on the front free endpaper. The clipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some soiling and staining and the spine is faded. Small pieces are missing from the corner tips, and spine ends and bottom front edge. There are tears of about 1" on the top front corner, bottom rear spine edge and top rear edge, and a few other smaller tears on the edges.
