Single Issue Magazine. Condición: Very Good. Rosalie Rush Ilustrador. First Edition. New York: MacFadden Publications, 1940. First Edition. Classic cover by Rosalie Rush. 11 3/8" x 8 1/2", illustrated wraps, 66 pp. Small amount of age toning at page and cover margins, also small amount of soiling, moderate damage around staple holes in spine. Very Good. A bright, sharp copy. See scans. This issue of Liberty is collectible largely for its Pin-Up cover art, the work of Rosalie Rush, a prolific and admired cover artist of the era. Notable articles include "My Sex Life", my Mahatma Gandhi (yes, you read that correctly. Now there's an article you don't see every day, but it is as titled) ; "Keeping America American", a description of American Legion activities by Raymond J. Kelly; "Frederic March and the Hollywood Reds" (staff; you can see where this is going.); "What Italy Plans" (Virginia Gayda); "Is Your Child Being Taught To Loaf?" (George E. Sokolsky); "A Lamp in the Darkness" (Fannie Hurst) ; "How To Find A Job" (Professor Walter B. Pitkin); "How Many of These 46 Sports Questions Can You Answer ?" (Jack Dempsey); and "The Silver-Fox Poor!" (Eula Scott). Short stories include "Magic In a Mist" (Eric Hatch); "The Baby's Had A Hard Day" (Anne Wormser); and "Something's Young and Growing - Liberty's Short Short" (N. Conkling). Liberty generally had serials by name writers going on, too, and this issue is no exception, with "Oomph Girl - Part III" (Margaret E. Sangster); "Mannerheim: Hero of Finland - Part III" (Emil Ludwig); and "Calcutta Adventure - Part VII" (Edison Marshall). Standard features as well, and, of course, a number of funky illustrated period ads. The cover sustains much of the collectibility, however; a Good Girl cover was something of a departure for this magazine. Nice Coca-Cola ad on back. Please see scans. lpr4.
