En efecto, las versiones francesas de los diferentes libros del Amadís se tenían en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI por un ejemplo de buena elocuencia en buen francés, motivo por el que, con visión comercial, fue ideado este producto editorial, en el que no participaron ni escritores ni traductores, sino únicamente los libreros parisinos Jean Longuis, Robert Le Mangnier y Gilles Robinot, junto al impresor Étienne Groulleau, agrupados en torno al editor Vincent Sertenas. Justo quienes habían venido publicando los libros de Amadís. De ese primer ?Tesoro del Amadís? impreso en París, se hicieron dos ediciones fuera de la ciudad al año siguiente. Una en Lyon, por Guilaume Grotier, y la otra en Amberes, impresa y mejorada por Plantino, esta que ofrecemos, en la que se disponía un prefacio diferente y un buen índice que facilitaba su manejo para el fin pedagógico al que estaba destinado.
