Hardcover. Condición: Very Good ++. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. B/W Photographs Ilustrador. First Edition. These 250 pages, including the bibliography, are a bit of a Who's Who for Denver, Colorado in the period 1878 to 1956. The authors examine the lives of fifteen families who were movers & shakers in Denver. Among them: Platt Rogers, John Franklin Shafroth, and Edwin Beard Hendrie (which woman of society they each married is duly noted). We look at their business success and particularly at their various residences. The authors seem to have something of an interior decorators' eye - as we see particular pieces of furniture and related details. All in b/w photography. Read more about : City Ditch, Colonel Dodge, Phillips Andover Academy, grandfather clock, and the Mullen house on Pennsylvania Street. Cond : Boards are salmon pink with black lettering - spine only. D.J. is pink with black lettering and features a drawing of a tower as once marked the Hendrie home. end-papers are white. binding is slightly shaken. Volume clean and bright. No names, marks, creases, nor tears, though the d.j.does have significant edge wear. Excellent period reference ! ! Quote (p. 64) : " But after about 1910 even Edwin began to relax. He and his wife Marion began to travel more, leaving the firm in other hands. He was not interested in the power he could accumulate or wield, nor did he have any compulsion to ._._._. ." Size: Octavo.
