Soft cover. Condición: Near Fine. 8vo. stapled booklets uniformly bound in colored wrappers (cream, blue, green, red, tan) with letters in the same color on the front cover and a stylized image in the same color on the front wrapper of a bird in flight. Each issue contains from 32 to 35 pages of poetry from various authors. Wrappers on each slightly faded around the edges, corners square and flat, occasional check marks within (see explanation below), just touches of rust on the staples, else near fine to fine with no other internal markings. Each and every issue has a page number noted in ink on the front wrapper that refers to poems by Celeste Turner Wright. Wright (1906-1999) was the first tenured woman faculty member at UC Davis, spending 51 years there and chairing the English Department and related academic units for 21 years. Stanton Arthur Coblentz (1896-1982) wrote novels, works of literary criticism and history, and poetry. Today he is best known as a science fiction author, though that was not the bulk of his work. He was the Editor and founder of WINGS (a Quarterly of Verse) and head of The Wings Press, Mill Valley, CA and New York. Douglas V. Kane was Associate Editor of WINGS. Six issues sold as one lot.
