Signature D11 repaired to leading corner with partial loss to three lines of text, some light browning and occasional light marginal staining, marbled e.ps., modern leather with gilt ruling and tooling to spine with gilt lettered title labels. François Timoléon, Abbé de Choisy (1644 1724). Choisy formed part of an official embassy from Louis XIV to the Siamese court that hoped, in vain, to convert the Siamese king to Christianity. Two other members of the expedition, Alexandre de Chaumont and Gui Tachard, also wrote accounts of the journey. This second edition published the same year, and by the same publishers as the quarto first edition. US$419.
