Hardcover. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. First Edition. Brown cloth with gilt-stamped lettering and black-stamped design on the front cover, which is repeated in blind stamping on the rear cover. Mild to moderate wear to the extremities, heavy wear at the lower corners. A loosening signature near the beginning of the book, otherwise the rest of the pages are bound tight. Yellow, patterned endpapers. 283 pages. Charles Carroll Goodwin was a lawyer and editor at the Tribune in Salt Lake City, Utah. As an author, he is remembered for his stories about people and events during Comstock mining days in Nevada such as The Comstock Club (1891) and The Wedge of Gold (1893).

Self wrappers. First edition. 8 pp. 8vo. Charles Carroll Goodwin (1832-1917) was the editor of the Salt Lake Tribune and author of many books. He argues that without silver as money, "the great mass of workers will degenerate into peons, or in irresistible fury arise, and, through the horrors of revolution, first create chaos and then trust to bring out of that chaos a new creation." OCLC locates only four copies: University of California at Berkeley (2), Georgetown, and Northwestern. A very good copy, light soiling, small tear to fore edge, small marginal stain.

Presentation copy with the calling card of early Idaho territorial legislator Ben Willson, (his name preprinted but with "Compliments of" pencelled across the top), affixed to the front free endpaper. 288 pps. with one illustration. Fictionalized history of the early mining days in the Comstock region of Nevada and California. A tight example, gilt lettering still bright, minoe wear at the spine ends. In addition to Willson's card, there is, affixed to the first blank, a small newspaper clipping dealing with Willson's run for governor of Idaho in 1890.
