Condición: Good. 1950. First Published. 237 pages. No dust jacket. Yellow cloth. Black and white photographic plates. Prize plate to front free endpaper. Light foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Light cracking to gutters but binding remains firm. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has light tanning with soft crushing to ends. Book has a slight forward lean.

Notable soiling, staining and marking to boards. Paper remnants stuck to rear.

Football autobiography. Horatio Stratton "Raich" Carter (1913-94) represented Sunderland, Derby County and Hull City and was one of England's greatest inside-forwards. His playing career spanned 1931 to 1951 and is covered in some detail in this autobiography. He also played cricket for Durham and Derbyshire. Edited by Edward Lanchbery Small 8vo. 2380p. Portrait frontispiece, 32 pages of photographs. Dust-wrapper, lightly rubbed. Very good condition. Signed nicely by Carter (not dedicated) to title-page.

A first edition, first printing published by Sporting Handbooks Limited in 1950. A very good book with a small previous owner's name to the front endpaper and some spotting to the prelims and the page edges. In a near fine unclipped wrapper. Some very minute wear to the edges and corners. Raich Carter was an England, Sunderland, Derby County and Hull City legend, as well as a County Cricketer for Derbyshire.
