Translated from the Arabic by Sir Richard Burton, and with notes from the prior translations by Henry Torrens, Edward Lane, and John Payne. With color illustrations on plates by Arthur Szyk. The stories are presented in the first part of the volume, followed by an unpaginated section (about 250 pp.) with the notes from the translators at the rear. --- Bound in full navy bonded leather covers with distinctive gilt decorations stamped on covers and spine. Titling stamped on spine in gilt, with three raised bands. AEG (all edges gilt). Text presented on quality papers and with orange silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker. Lacks a dust jacket (as issued). --- A clean, bright, unmarked copy though with faint scratches to textblock fore-edge gilding.
