Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. VG first (?) illustrated edition circa 1911. Buchan's fine tale of an uprising in Southern Africa. i-vi, 7-376pp Green cloth with gold lettering and decoration; circular picture pasted on front; frontispiece map;4 colour plates; grey endpapers. Slightly rubbed at the spine ends and the gold lettering on the spine is a little dull but otherwise bright and undamaged. Internally very good with intermittent light foxing; all plates in excellent condition. Date hand-written on front paste-down.

Large format (approx 7 x 5.5 inches). Green cloth, gold lettering; illiustrated front board with rectangular picture of Laputa; picture surrounded by representation of ruby necklace; frontispiece map; several other colour illustrations. Slightly rubbed extremities; binding cracked but still firm; otherwise very good throughout. Inscription on front fly-leaf. Comes with a full-colour copy of the very rare d/j.

An enduringly popular adventure set in South Africa - David Crawfurd is involved with rebellion and hidden treasure. 245pp Purple cloth; gold lettering; colour fontispiece illustration; 16 black & white illutrations; map immediately before chapter 1. Generally bright throughout but some light, patchy fading and lightly foxed endpapers. The pictorial d/w is bright and clean but has some small chips and a few neatly repaired closed tears. There is a small area of old adhesive tape residue on the front, adjacent to the spine and a mottled red stain across the lower front corner.
