(Hardcover, 1975). 1975 1st edition. Large 4to (214 x 280mm). Ppx,542. Plain plates. Green cloth, spine titled in gilt. Slight browning to end-papers and edges but a very good copy. Laid-in errata sheet. This is a comprehensive listing of American angling literature up to the time of publication (1975). Many of the entries are very fully described and a lot of material has been packed in. Authors, editors and pseudonyms are cross-referenced. This is, as many of the best books are, the work of a well-informed enthusiast. Being from the era before the home computer, the text is set in two columns of partially justified monotype which, although no work of art, does make it clear and easy to read. Hats off to the typist who made so few mistakes in such an extensive, dense text. This is an object lesson to those, often professionals, who produce the thousands of computer spell-checked and shoddily edited books which flood the bookshops today. A scarce and useful work for the book collector. .

Angler's Press, Atlanta, 1975, signed by the author on title pager. Illustrated with reproductions of title pages. 8.5" x 11". 543 pp. Green cloth. This is still the standard reference to American angling books. An important reference, with extensive information on all books published before 1900, annotations on most of the more modern books, and values (circa 1975) on many of the scarcer books. This one reference that you must have on your shelf. Very fine.

Atlanta, Georgia. Anglers Press. 1975. First Edition. Quarto (12 x 9). 543 pp. Inscribed and signed by Henry Bruns to an avid angler. Laid-in is the two page supplement/errata. If you have the slightest interest in angling and fishing books, Mr. Bruns' work is absolutely necessary. While the recently published Angling Books by Charles Thatcher is quite good (a snap-shot of sold angling books world-wide with bibliographic details covering a seven year period) and Westwood and Satchell's Bibliotheca Piscatoria (bibliography of mostly U. K. angling titles) remains timeless and necessary, it comes down to Henry Bruns to handle angling books of the Americas, and it was a monumental accomplishment. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and front cover. A nice book. Fine. Signed by Author.
