Hardcover. Condición: Very Good Plus. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, Date on Title Page). If you've been looking for this book and you're stubborn about having it in excellent condition then this would be a good choice. I've looked through the other copies for sale and they all appear to be in somewhat compromised condition. As you can see from the photographs, the covers are very clean and there is very little wear, a few spots or small areas with color fading. a tiny spot of rubbing at the bottom front corner, another right above it on the middle edge, one other on the bottom edge of the front cover (the edges are in otherwise very good condition). There is also some creasing at the spine ends. As you can see, the gilt lettering on the spine is quite bright. This book, published in 1897, is very solidly bound. The pages are tight. There are no spaces between any of them. There are no spaces/cracks between the inside covers and endpapers. The pages are also very clean. This was obviously not a children's book and no one appears to have eaten any meals while reading it, you're not going to find any smudging or anything like that. There is what I'm guessing are some dust soiling spots on the middle page edge which is deckled. Not too many, most on the page edges toward the end of the book. In some of the last pages you'll see just a little bit of the darkening peeking over the edge of the actual page. Of course, this is very far away from the print. The bottom page edges are also deckled. I don't see any soiling there. The top page edge is not deckled. I don't see any soiling there. There is moderate amount of spotting/foxing on the inside covers, also on the endpapers, with a lrge square of shading on the backs of the endpapoers. There is just a little bit (and very light) of the spotting on the title page and again very lightly on the last page of the Preface and the blank page that faces it. And then that's it. It stops there. There isn't foxing/spotting on the pages in the text. The pages are also in very good condition. There is a light surface scuff near the top of the title page cause by the opposing page likely sticking to it there at some point. Scrolling through, I'm not seeing creasing and I'm not seeing dogeared corners. There aren't any markings in this book. There aren't any attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. This book feels very, very solid in your hands. And the interior presents very well.
