Quarter Buckram with Cloth Boa. Condición: Fine. First Thus. An attractive edition with buckram spine and hand-marbled paper boards. The pages are gilt to top edge and fore edge is untrimmed. Some pages are uncut and I have left them like that but that can easily be altered. This selection was first published by The Carcanet Press in 1976. Book is covered by the original plastic cover that is rippled but no tears or stains. The plastic cover is slightly shorter than the book but this is exactly the she same on the other 4 Folio Society books I am listing so it is as the book was issued. Postage will be confirmed when you enquire or order and for light or very heavy books will vary from the ABE quote which is based on a 1kg parcel. N.B. Postage to the USA will often be quite a bit less than the quote on ABE.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Complete set of seven volumes in the publisher's "Haworth Edition," forest green cloth with bright gold decoration and spine-titles, top edges are bright gilt, several illustrations, including frontis plates with the original protective tissue-guards, this clean, attractive set has no major flaws, we here list the minor flaws: mild rubbing to the cloth at the corners and spine-ends, the former owner's initials are present on the blank front end-paper of each volume, a small number of the pages have a short edge-tear that has done no damage, this probably occurred when the former owner "opened" the pages (as many of you know, older volumes were often produced with some of the pages "bound together" so in order to be read the pages had to be carefully separated) Shirley" has a small blemish at the bottom of page 531 but the text is readable, pages 324-325 of "Villette" are tanned due to a newspaper article placed within, the former owner has penciled-in a genealogical chart on the half-title page (please see our photo) of Wuthering Heights, and most importantly: a small piece of page 393 in Volume 7, The Life of Charlotte Bronte was completely torn from the page, we have successfully repaired the tear with professional adhesive and all of the text is readable but please handle this page extra carefully.
