Hardcover. Condición: Good. 34th edition. Engraved ads; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 1524 pages; The 1892 edition of the most comprehensive record of Philadelphia business and residence listings. Complete copy with 1386 page primary text divided among a 706 page "residence and copartnership" directory, a [689] 707- 1386 pages business directory organized by business type/concern, an 86 page City Register and a 52 page Street and Avenue Directory. The whole lavishly populated with engraved business advertisements tipped in on colored paper, printed in-text and appended as premium ads at front and rear. This example of the very uncommon directory is flawed in several regards: the elaboarate advertisement printed red cloth is complete and generally neat but the inner joints are split such that the whole boards and casing are almost detached from the page block. The first 15 or so leaves (primarily full page ads) are detached and loose, laid in at front. The page block is fully split between the co-partnership and business sections. Several leaves at rear are loose or detached, but present. University Library bookplate mounted to pictorial ad front pastedown. But no library attachments such as pockets, sticker or labels are present. A complete copy that would certainly benefit from the attention of a binder or restorer. Profusely illustrated with engraved and pictorial ads for late Victorian businesses. Flaws make this good only, but could be well improved by the attentions of a qualified binder. .
