Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. The Art of June Wayne, by Baskett, Mary W 1969 published by Abrams hardcover with dustjacket Artist, visionary, entrepreneur, and autodidact June Wayne founded Tamarind Lithography Workshop, Inc in Los Angeles in 1960, giving rise to a resurgence in printmaking across the country and around the world. She served as director until 1970, when Tamarind moved to Albuquerque and affiliated with the University of New Mexico. Wayne remained a close advisor and advocate for the workshop until her death in 2011, and took part in the workshop s 50th anniversary in 2010 when it relocated to its current facility. The founding principles and objectives she envisioned for the workshop are still in place today. Her many Tamarind lithographs trace the arc of her interests and wit as an artist, including her early exploration of surveillance, identity, and originality in the thumbprint series, and her macabre self-portrait with fellow printmaker James Ensor. Wayne s work is represented in museum collections worldwide, including Achenbach Foundation for the Graphic Arts, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Hammer Museum, University of California, Los Angeles; National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC; Norton Simon Museum, Pasadena; New York Public Library; Museum of Modern Art, New York; University of New Mexico Art Museum; and many others. "some jacket wear and tear, clean and tight".

Considers the life and artistry of American printmaker and painter June Wayne (1918-2011). "Reveals Miss Wayne as an artist consistently ahead of the times, dealing with optical theories, symbols and narrative structures without parallel in the art of her contemporaries. An autodidact, she is a conceptual theorizer whose art is 'mislabeled as soon as it is labeled, dealing as it does with the surprising compatibility of real and seeming opposites.'" (dj).
