Octavo, paperbound (stiff stapled wrappers), 100 pp. Very Good, with darkened edges. From Introduction: This monograph grew out of a paper I read entitled "The Trial of Florida" at the centennial meeting of the Florida Historical Society in 1956 in St. Augustine. Further research provided abundant material to finish the story. Because the primary sources for this monograph are certain basic documents, such as the record of the testimony held in St. Augustine in 1602 and several long letters, no footnotes have been provided. The interested reader can easily find the source in the bibliography. I have not disputed or analyzed in detail the testimonies and opinions of the people in this story. Such would require a cooperative task covering anthropology, archeology, ethnology, linguistics, geography and history. I am a historian. My intention has been to present the story of Florida in this crucial year of 1602 as it happened, from original sources with the help of trustworthy secondary material. Florida, Florida History, Floridiana, U.S.-iana, U. S. History, United States History, American History, Americana, Colonial America. bslic.

Librería: James Lasseter, Jr, Brooksville, FL, Estados Unidos de America
Libro
Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. Signed and inscribed on the title page as follows: "To Jim Lasseter/with warmest/regards/Charles W. Arnade." The book was signed at my request and in front of me by Dr. Arnade, a number of years ago. Today it is a relatively scare work and since I do not believe that Arnade signed many copies, therefore this makes this copy scarcier still. Foxing on the first and last pages of the book and on edges of pages in work. Book itself is in remarkably sound condition. No tears, nor creases, corner and spine undamaged. 99 page pamphlet is tight. No wormholes, no names, no bookplates, no markings, not ex-libras, not a remainder. Dr. Arnade passed away in September 2008 but his seminal work on St. Augustine remains one of his enduring legacies. Signed By the Author.

Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Signed, inscribed, dated, and placed by the author and his wife on the page opposite the half title page as follows: "With the/warmest regards/to my colleague/Jim Lasseter/Charles W. Arnade/August 8, 2000/". "Marjorie Arnade/8 Aug 2000/San Antonio, Florida/". Volume itself has blue covers with sharp gilt lettering on the spine. 269 pages, including an index and a bibliography. Inside the front cover there is a bookplate that states "Ex Libris/ Charles T. Nisbet/". Inside the front and back covers the first page is yellow there is a small rectangular area about 1/2 inch in vertical height where something might have been removed, I am not sure. Interior of book is clean and binding is tight. I find no underlining, no highlighting, no remainder marks, no folded or dogeared pages, no smudges. The dust jacket is protected in an archival quality cover. The dj has some wear at the head and tail of the spine and corner wear. There is a gold circular sticker about the size of a nickel at the top of the front dust flap. All in all, a quite presentable and serviceable copy of the first attempt in English to present a section of Bolivian history with the help of primary sources. Unfortunately Dr. Arnade passed away on August 7, 2008 and his most extensive collection of books on Bolivia was left to the University of South Florida. This author and wife signed copy of his earliest work on Bolivia is available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box. It could well be a one of a kind copy. Signed By the Author & His Wif.

Soft cover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: None. Signed and inscribed on the half title page as follows: "To Jim Lasseter-/with warm regards/ Charles W. Arnade/. Dr. Arnade signed the book at my request and personally in front of me a number of years ago. This 1959 edition printed by the Record Press in St. Augustine, Florida itself is becoming rather scare and particularly so in this relatively nice condition. In addition, I do not believe that Dr. Arnade, during his lifetime, signed many books so this makes this work very scarce. 67 pages. Clean & tight. Professor Arnade was most proud of the fact that he was a member of the charter faculty of the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he spent essentially his entire academic career. His death was mentioned on the front page of the Tampa Tribune on his date with destiny. Signed By the Author.
