Calhoun, to Atlanta author Mrs. Lollie Belle Wylie. Note: This inscription may have been tipped in. Paper is slightly smaller on the right edge. W. L. Calhoun, born in Decatur Georgia, was the President of the Atlanta Pioneer Citizens Society. He was the son on Atlanta Mayor James Calhoun who surrendered Atlanta to Sherman and the Union forces in 1864. W. L. Calhoun was Captain of Company K of the 42nd Georgia Infantry. He surrendered at Vicksburg in 1863, fought in the Atlanta Campaign, and was wounded at the Battle of Resaca. W. L. Calhoun was elected Mayor of Atlanta in 1879.
