Folio card covers unpaginated b&w drawings. Corners creased, area of rubbing approx 2cm x 4cm near spine of front cover; a good copy. Originally published in 1918, Sergeant T Penleigh Boyd, Electrical & Mechanical Co. AIF, recorded his impressions in drawings (extensive captioning), and related text to each, of the battle front of Western Europe. Boyd used a dugout as his studio and "drew chiefly to occupy my time and distract my thoughts, during the long hours of rumbling bombardment overhead". With an introduction by Anne Gray, the AWM curator of pre-1939 art.

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. First Edition. Sydney, 'Printed . by Radcliffe Press . by Authority from Penleigh Boyd', 1923. Quarto, [20] pages plus 15 plates and an acknowledgements page. Printed wrappers with a large colour plate ('Hop Pickers' by A.J. Munnings) mounted on the front cover; wrappers a little marked and unevenly discoloured; minimal signs of age and use; a very good copy. All 581 items were for sale; the original price-list is attached to the recto of the rear cover with a small piece of tape. The foreword to the British section was written by 'the famous English critic' Mr P.G. Konody, 'whose untiring efforts have been largely responsible for the collecting of the English Section'. Acknowledgement was also made to 'Mr C. Lloyd Jones, Mons. G. Manoury (Paris) and Professor Max Schlichting (Germany), whose interest and co-operation have greatly assisted in the success of the Exhibition'.

In near fine condition with the only markings being flyleaf offsetting to the endpapers. Otherwise the contents are fine and clean. The d/w is very good with light edge rubbing and tape marks to the spine ends and to the flys. Scans available if required.
