This artwork, titled Ein unerwartetes Wiedersehen (An Unexpected Reunion), is an 1894 print by Czech painter,Ludek Marold (1865-1898) . The image captures a Victorian-era couple meeting unexpectedly amidst a dense garden or woodland setting, indicated by the overgrown plants and broken fence. The woman, dressed in a dark, form-fitting dress and top hat, appears contemplative or somewhat guarded, while the man, also in formal attire and wearing a top hat, seems to be looking at her with an expression of curiosity or recognition. This print is an excellent example of late 19th-century illustration, with delicate, precise lines and subtle color washes that create a somber yet intricate atmosphere. The artist s signature is visible in the lower left corner, suggesting this is an authenticated or authorized print. The condition of this print appears well-preserved, with no visible discoloration or heavy damage, although some wear may be present at the edges, typical for prints of this age.Approx Image Size : 13 x 8 inches Approx Overall Size: 16 x 11 inches CONDITION: Excellent Condition. Print Image is clean, clear, sharp with beautiful detail. As scanned. Printed on cream color coated heavier paper. Text and print on the back. This beautiful print would look great matted and framed. Or an art supply store can provide you with a selection of frames for old art treasures.so that when ink is applied to the design and the block is pressed against a sheet of paper, a reversed print of the design is left on the paper. In other words, the raised parts of the block -- those not carved away -- pick up ink and transfer it to the paper. The quality which distinguishes woodcuts from wood engravings is that the former are created on the side of a plank of wood where an engraving is done on the end grain. This allows for finer detail in the image. NOTE THE FOLLOWING BEFORE YOU PURCHASE: This is an 1894 photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional work of art. It is NOT a modern reproduction, ie. a laser scan, photocopy etc. It is the original from the antique book publication. This print was published on the date mentioned, or circa of the date mentioned at the top of the page. The print I have for sale, like many antique prints that you see online, originate from an antique book publication. The publication may not always be known.
