CARLISLE.-Probably this Cathedral, being of Norman origin, followed the usual plan, as the remaining portion of it does, except that when the choir was rebuilt, the Lady chapel was not set in the usual place; and, in whatever position, it has since disappeared, together with the cloister, chapter-house, and greatest part of the nave.
