Descripción
Launched in 1891, HMS Royal Sovereign stood as the flagship of the Royal Sovereign-class battleships, a notable group of pre-dreadnoughts in the Royal Navy. This battleship marked a transitional era in naval design, incorporating a mix of traditional and more modern elements. Armed with four large-caliber guns in twin turrets, the ship exemplified the naval technology of its time. Commissioned in 1892, HMS Royal Sovereign served in various capacities and played a role in significant naval engagements, including the Battle of Jutland during World War I in 1916. The Royal Sovereign-class underwent modifications over the years to meet evolving naval warfare needs. HMS Royal Sovereign and her sister ships contributed to the Royal Navy's fleet during a pivotal period, witnessing the shift from pre-dreadnought to dreadnought battleships and leaving a lasting legacy in the annals of naval history.
