Historical town view, by Carl Mayer, after Ferdinand Carl Klimsch. Good condition.Carl Mayer (1798 Nuremberg - 1868 Nuremberg). German portrait painter, steel engraver and publisher. Pupil of Christoph Jakob Wilhelm Carl Joachim Haller von Hallerstein, Friedrich Fleischman, Auguste Gaspard and Louis Desnoyers. Founded a graphic arts institute in Nuremberg in 1828.Ferdinand Carl Klimsch (1812 Bohemian Leipa - 1890 Frankfurt am Main). German lithographer and engraver. In Prague since 1826. Studied at the local academy under Joseph Bergler the Younger and Franz Christian Waldherr until 1835. Went to Munich via Dresden, Wiesbaden, Cologne and Düsseldorf. In Dillenburg an der Lahn he maintained a lithographic institute. He has been based in Frankfurt am Main since 1837. There he worked in the Dondorf graphic publishing house until around 1850. He later opened his own lithographic institute there. Signed lower right: Stahlstich v. Carl Mayer's K.-A. in Nuremberg.
