3 Antique prints, titled: 'Der Cachicame' - Tome II.B - Plate XXXVII-XXXIX: 'Der Cachicame.' (The Armadillo). A complete set of three plates: a depiction of the Armadillo, an anatomy plate and a skeleton plate. These old antique prints originate from: 'Allgemeine Historie der Natur', which is the German edition of: "Histoire Naturelle Générale et Particuliere.", by de Buffon & Dauberton. This edition is published in Leipzig, 1766. Tome II.B - Plate XXXVII-XXXIX: 'Der Cachicame.' (The Armadillo). A complete set of three plates: a depiction of the Armadillo, an anatomy plate and a skeleton plate. Engraving on laid paper. Made by 'Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon' after an anonymous artist. Georges-Louis Le Clerc, Comte de Buffon (1707-1788). French naturalist, mathematician, biologist, cosmologist and author. Buffon's views influenced the next two generations of naturalists, including Jean-Baptiste Lamarck and Charles Darwin. The engravers in this work are B. de Bakker, C. Brouwer, O. de Vries, C.F. Fritzsch (1719-c.1772), Reinier Vinkeles (1741-1816), H. Vinkeles, Mittelj, G.S., R. Oakes, Fringham and Hulk after Jacques de Seve (active 1744-1788), Buvee and others. Good, given age. Stain.
