The author successively studies the personalities and ideas of Zoroaster (Zaratrusta) Confucius and Muhammad and the influence they exerted in their countries of origin. Pastoret concludes that Zoroaster is superior to the others as a legislator, Mohammed shows superiority as a founder of religions and Confucius is the most remarkable as moralist. A work dedicated to the comparative study of religions, which attempts to establish the common elements and differences between each one, using a vast array of sources and bibliography. Claude Emmanuel Joseph Pierre, marquis de Pastoret (Marseille, 1755 - Paris, 1840), was a prominent jurist and political figure during the time of the French Revolution and the First French Empire, with markedly right-wing ideals. He took part in a number of polemics and important political events, notably the monarchical insurrection of 13 Vendémiaire, Year IV.
