Sinopsis: A book on family history research, this explains how ancestral contexts and backgrounds can be discovered. Using textual examples the author advises on the weaving of contemporary national events and local lifestyles into a narrative which is of more than family interest. Terrick FitzHugh is also the author of "Dictionary of Genealogy" and was one of the founders of the Association of Geneaologists and Record Agents and has been its chairman. In 1952 he founded the research journal "The Amateur Historian" and was its first editor.
