VG. 1st. 22.5cm By 14.5cm. The wreck of the steamer Tararua and the south of the South Island in April 1881 took the lives of 131 of the 151 passengers and crew aboard --- NZ's second worst shipwreck. The author chronicles the wreck and its aftermath in a compelling manner. 160 pages, e/paper maps, 28 b/w illustrations. The subtitle is signed by the author and carries an oval stamp inscribed "Commemoration of the wreck of the Tararua, Southern Districts, 29th May, 1970." Scarce signed and stamped. At page top a small inked name, address. The text block is excellent, the hard covers have narrow fade strip bottom edge, corners lightly bumped. The art DJ has light edge and surface wear, small chips and tears. Tape repairs to three other tears. No loss of surface. N° de ref. de la librería 001406
