By Francis Adams Comstock and William D. Fletcher. One of 140 special copies (out of a total edition of 1000 copies) accompanied by an original chiaroscuro wood engraving by Thomas W. Nason printed from the original blocks. Set in Monotype Baskerville and Bulmer display types and printed on Caress Text Natural Vellum at Meriden Gravure. Folio. 14 X 10.25 ins. 279 pp. + Colophon. Natural linen binding with gilt spine titling and gilt device by the artist on upper cover. This monumental volume reproduces over 600 wood engravings, drawings and copper engravings by Thomas W. Nason. Called the poet engraver of New England Nason found his perfect pairing with the poetry of farmer poet Robert Frost after being introduced by Joseph Blumnethal of the Spiral Press. The loosely inserted original wood engraving, "Farmyard Evening", is one of only 25 chiaroscuro wood engravings cut by Nason. This demanding technique required engraving three nearly identical blocks and printing them in dark toned colours (grey and brown) which enrich the black, master block. The result is an image with dramatic depth. A fine copy. N° de ref. de la librería 1983
