An interesting little book in that it covers the construction of wooden vessels from small craft to a fully fledged cargo steamer. The book was obviously inspired, to some degree, by the possible need to construct wooden replacements for losses during WWII. The sub titles reflect the purpose of the book stating it contains "The fundamental principles and practical methods described in detail" and that it is "Especiallly written for carpenters and other wood workers who desire to engage in boat or ship building, and as a text book for schools." The first section covers tha planning and construction of smaller boats with the major portion describing the buildsing of a full size wooden steamer. There are 124 b/w illustrations throughout and these include photos, detailed construction drawings, diagrams and plans, with five additional tables. Much of this material was provided by the US Shipping Board. 238 pages including extended ship building termionology, index. Green hard covers VG with gilt titles to front and spine, latter somewhat faded, few marks to front board, light wear to spine top, more pronounced at spine base, ink name address FFEP, water mark with light crinkling top page corners first few pages, disappearing by page 40, text block otherwise excellent. A small pencil construction drawing first blank page after index could be easily erased. N° de ref. del artículo 003495
