The first appearance of the title essay in book form was in 1845 (Myerson, A5). Original brown cloth, gilt, decorated in blind, 428 pp. Edited and with a preface by the author's brother, Arthur Buckminster Fuller, with an introduction by Horace Greeley. Arthur Fuller studied at the Harvard Divinity School, served as a Unitarian minister, and was a Union chaplain in the Civil War until killed by enemy fire in 1862. Worn at tips and spine ends. Ossoli was involved in Brook Farm and was an editor of The Dial. Her afternoon lecture group was an inspiration to a whole series of 19th century feminists.
