Oblong 8vo hardcover. Illustrated paper-coverd boards with contrasting blue cloth spine. First thus, no printing specified. Very Good/: Boards exhibit rubbing at edges front & rear with corner tips a bit frayed. Cloth spine ends bumped and lightly worn; text itself clean, bright & unmarked but with some short closed tears to bottom edges. Illus. eps; line drawings and color illustrations. Unpaginated but 52pp.***Abridged version of Baum's classic with sunny & lively illustrations by Dell Comics director & illustrator Oscar Lebeck who also was director for Western Publications. While at Western, Lebeck hired Walt Kelly who went on to create the phenomenally popular cartoon Pogo. Illustrated throughout with many full-page, full-color illus. and line drawings.
