Sinopsis: This is a collection of poems that have been written by Michael Perry from the fall of 1992 to the spring of 2005.A lot can happen to someone in that amount of time. These poems cover Michael’s thoughts from the age of 21 to 34. Some are serious, some are funny and some show that he wants to be a storyteller. He has an obsession with love or at least the idea of being in love. Like all of us, he’ll never have the answer, but the important thing here is that he comes at it from a different angle. From the first poem he ever wrote, “The Wreck of My Memories,” which is included in this collection, to the poem that the book is named for, “Well Wishes from a Wishing Well Soul,” he looks at the world around him and tries to write about the beauty and the ugliness that makes up the world. He started writing to impress a girl. The girl is gone but the writing remains. Through the years, Michael has tried to write what he sees and feels around him. He writes all of this in third person because it’s almost like talking to a shrink. Besides that, it’s fun. Anyway, he hopes that the poems are experienced with as much technicolor emotion as he had when he first experienced and wrote them. Enjoy.
