A true UK first edition / first printing, with 'First published in 1971 by Faber and Faber' on the copyright page. Discreet owner's inscription on the inside page. Slight yellowing to the white titles on the jacket, and a little creaming to the back of the jacket. A touch of foxing along the top edge of the text block. Overall, a really nice copy of the poet's last book. Crisp jacket, not creased or price-clipped. All our books are protected by a removable plastic cover, and stored out of sunlight. The poems in this collection were all written in the last nine months of Sylvia Plath's life, and form part of a group from which the Ariel poems were chosen. Her radio play 'Three Women', also included here, was written slightly earlier, in the transitional period of The Colossus and Ariel.
'A book that anyone seriously interested in poetry now must have . . . Sylvia Plath's immense gift is evident throughout.' Martin Dodsworth in the Guardian
