SIGNED BY CARMONY. "George Hand went with the California gold rush in 1849, served in the Civil War, and later settled in Tucson. He worked as a butcher, saloon keeper and night watchman. He kept a diary during much of his adult life up to two weeks before his death.". Even this bookseller's great-grandfather is mentioned in the diary.
