8vo., First Edition thus, free endpapers faintly spotted; red cloth, upper board and backstrip lettered in gilt, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter very lightly age-soiled on (predominantly white) rear panel, and with one short closed tear at head of backstrip. Powys' third novel, written in exile in the US, was published by Simon & Schuster in 1934. A heavily expurgated version with the title 'Jobber Skald' was issued here a year later, the many omissions depriving the work of much of its identity with the Dorset Coast and countryside surrounding Weymouth, a link as crucial as that of his second novel 'A Glastonbury Romance' with its Somersetshire setting. This is the first appearance of the full text in the UK. Very scarce, especially in this condition. N° de ref. de la librería
