Volumes are lightly age-tanned with foxing to front and rear fly-leaves. Six inches of spine on Vol. I is beginning to detach from front cover. Slight lift to rear board from text. Top front and bottom corners bumped. A faint bit of rippling to a few rear pages. Text of Volume II is lightly rippled with front and rear boards moderately lifted from text. Both volumes clean and solidly bound. 630 / 840 pp with index. Richard Hooker (1554 -- 1600) was an English Anglican priest and an influential theologian. He was one of the ost important English theologians of the sixteenth century. Hooker was ordained a priest in 1579 by Edwin Sandys, bishop of London. "In 1580 he was deprived of his fellowship for "contentiousness" having campaigned for the losing candidate (Rainoldes) in a contested election to the presidency of the college. However, he recovered it when Rainoldes finally assumed the post," (Wikipedia). N° de ref. de la librería 70870
