Previous owner's inscription to FFEP. Slight spine lean. Light age-tanning to pages, a tiny bit of organic matter to the lower edge of page 46 which made small stains to about 10 pages on either side. Slight rubbing to extremities, some tiny little dents along spine. Gilt lettering to spine and front board, textured toffee-colored cloth-covered boards. Clean, unmarked text. Solid binding. 116 pp with Sufi Invocation to last page and sources for Sufi Literature (Switzerland, Holland, U.S.A and England) to rear of text. Being compiled mainly from the writings of Inayat Khan, who brought Sufi thought to the West from India in 1910. Most likely from the Greek "sophia" (wisdom), the idea is that Sufism is "that state in which there is pursuit of divine wisdom." This book discusses the basic nature and work of the movement, what it is to be a Sufi, the ten principal thoughts (which are along the lines of other major world religions, but also encompass them), and advice on how to live on a higher level of consciousness. In four parts: General Information; The Principal Sufi Thoughts; Some Topics Presented in Sufic Terms; Initiaion into the Sufi Order. N° de ref. de la librería 68940
