Descripción:

Color lithograph , image approximately 15 1/2 x 32 inches on sheet 18 x 35 1/2 inches. The lithograph was matted and framed in the 1980s, now removed from frame. There is a toned line from the mat opening, brown adhesive paper tape along the edges of the sheet where the print was attached to the backing. The verso of the print is browned from the wood backing that was used in the frame. The lithograph could be deacidified and the tape removed; however as it stands it would display very well with the light brown line from matburn either covered or used as an accent line around the image. The good life: the well-to-do play tennis with a luxury Renault standing by, while a blimp (L"Hirondelle, with a Renault engine) flies low overhead. Ernest Montaut (1879-1909) and his atelier produced a series of lithographic posters documenting the excitement engendered by new developments at the turn of the twentieth century: automobiles, planes and dirigibles.
